PROGRAM DETAILS: "Bend it like Trueman" is a soccer program for 18-36 month old children. The program is designed to develop specific soccer skill sets, while enabling the children to learn team work, improve social skills, develop physical fitness, and most importantly have a blast! The program will run for 7 consecutive weeks. Practice will be held each Saturday at 10:00 A.M. for 40 minutes. Practice will most likely be held at Lindley Meadow in Golden Gate Park, but is still up in the air. The cost per player will be $50 (compared to $135 for other programs). It is intended to be a "not for profit" enterprise. The cost of each player will go towards paying for equipment, t-shirts, and miscellaneous items (gatorade, oranges, etc.). Start date will be June 20th and will run for through Aug. 1st.

ABOUT THE COACHES: Mike and I started playing competitive soccer when we were 5 years old. We played club ball until we
were 18 and both played on the high school team. While I retired from competitive play after high school, Mike went on to play soccer in the Netherlands, and then came back to the States to play at San Francisco City College and then San Diego State.
Registration: We have had a tremendous response. Mike and I decided that it made sense to cap the class at 12-14 kids. We will maintain a waiting list in case someone drops from the program. If all goes well, we will most likely expand the number of classes in the future. In order to guarantee your spot in the class we need you to email Jeff at jwtrueman at gmail with your child's name and age. The $50 payment is due June 6th, 2 weeks prior to the first class. If you are unable to make a payment, arrangements can be made by talking to Jeff. We also hope to get sponsors in the future for kids that are unable to pay for it themselves.
Gear needed: Your child will need clothes and shoes they are comfortable running around in. They may also get a little dirty so don't dress them in something you would worry about. I will provide all the balls, you can buy from me at the end of the season if you want (at cost), or you can bring your own ball.
Q&A: If you have any questions you can either email me, or if you think others might want to know the response, post a comment and I will reply so everyone can see.
How it got started: There are few things in life I am passionate about, and soccer is one of them. Recently, my wife Cara, Mike (my younger brother) and I were playing on a coed soccer team here in San Francisco. My daughter Sienna enjoyed watching our games and loved playing with the ball whenever it wasn't being used. As a father and soccer enthusiast, I was super excited to see Sienna take an interest in soccer. I began looking for a soccer program that would be suitable for her. After doing some research I found that there were very few soccer programs for kids her age, and the few programs I found seemed really expensive. I thought to myself, I can run a program just as good, if not better than what was being offered. So, I spoke to my brother Mike (an even bigger
soccer enthusiast) and we decided to organize "Bend it like Trueman", a soccer program for toddlers, ages 18- 36 months, at a very low cost to the participants.
